I’ve discovered so much amazing rock and pop thanks to the SiriusXM Canadian rock channels Iceber and The Verge. Hell, I could do a blog featuring nothing but songs from those channels that stayed in heavy rotation for weeks and weeks.
July Talk formed in 2012 in Toronto, Canada, have released four albums and have won several Juno awards. Call them alternative rock if you like; they rock with emotion and bombast and many songs have a sense of urgency. One of the things that make the band unique is the two lead vocalists - Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay Goldstein. They go back and forth but don’t always duet, if that makes sense. Goldstein’s voice is sultry and soulful; Dreimanis’ voice has a rock/blues growl. That dichotomoy works to great affect on this song, especially, which is from their second album, Touch, released in 2016.
