If you pay attention, you can find a lot of new music in podcasts. Many showcase new and upcoming artists and one of those, some might be surprised to know, is The Tony Kornheiser Show podcast. Yes, the often-curmudgeonly sportswriter, seen daily on ESPN’s daily Pardon The Interruption, has a podcast and they ask people to send in songs by new artists. During each episode they play parts of those songs and you can hear those in full at the end of each episode.
You might think its a surprising place to discover new music and I have done that often. Many times a showcased song will really catch my ear and hearing “Bad Taste” by Never Ending Fall the other day did just that. Starting with some atmospheric synths, the song goes into an insistent guitar riff and driving beat. The lead vocals remind me of multiple people at once - some folks might think of The Killers or similar bands. Add a great hook and interesting lyrics and all that is why it went immediately into my personal power rotation.
